Swami Parmanand Ji Maharaj was born in the small village of Mavei Dham on the banks of the holy Yamuna River in North India in 1938. As a child, he devoted himself to God, practicing Yoga daily and performing other rituals. In the predawn hours, this little boy, in search of Truth, practiced Japa and stood on one foot in the cold water of the Yamuna.
As a young man, he met the great Swami Akhandananda Maharaja from Chitrakut, who accepted him as his student. Constantly engaged in the service of his Guru, the boy began to listen and reflect on the words of Sri Gurudeva concentrated in Brahman. Since childhood, prone to renunciation, the boy Parmanand renounced worldly life, leaving his home and family, and became Sannyasi, taking the “Sannyas Diksha” from the Honorable Swami Akhandananda in 1956, immediately after receiving secondary education. He was initiated into Holiness as Swami Parmanand. Spiritually practicing for seven years under the guidance of his Guru, he achieved Self-realization. Under the supervision of the Guru, he became well versed in the spiritual books of India, as well as a master of yoga and meditation. Having become a Sadhu, he did not leave for the Himalayas, but returned from compassion to society to share the knowledge he acquired with people. He chose the path of Karma Yoga and devoted his life to improving the well-being of all mankind and spreading the divine knowledge of Yoga, Meditation and Vedanta.
